![]() Gashadokuro - "The sound of scraping bones."Įxpect another issue to come out once I finish 20 more Yokai! - Stickers included are self published, hand cut and weatherproof (you can also buy them individually through my shop<3) ![]() World of demons yokai combo series#It's said that the monsters can only be stopped when you say a magical spell: KA-TA-SHI-HA-YA, E-KA-SE-NI-KU-RI-NI, TA-ME-RU-SA-KE, TE-E-HI, A-SHI-E-HI, WA-RE-SHI-KO-NI-KE-RI (カタシハヤ, エカセニクリニ, タメルサケ, テエヒ, アシエヒ, ワレシコ) - it has been interpreted dozens of times over the ages, with well over 1000 years of history and dozens of ancient picture scrolls, books, etc - My 'zine series was largely inspired by Toriyama Sekiens: The Illustrated Night Parade of a Hundred Demons" (1776) – but this zine covers yokai and legends not included in those books as well, so its more of a general bestiary. Hyakki Yagyo: or "The Night Parade of 100 demons" is a Japanese Legend when all the Yokai (demons, ghosts and monsters) parade through town causing mayhem, mischief and chaos.Youkai can be horrific terrors or even just plain silly or sweet, sometimes they'll even bring good fortune to those that cross their paths! The term "yokai" can cover just about anything from ghosts, demons, to the generally unexplained, emotional, paranormal to even divine phenomena!! - Sometimes modern day Cryptids & UMA (Unidentified mysterious animals.) also fall under this umbrella term. ![]() The kanji combination of two different words roughly meaning "bewitching attractive calamity" and "spectre apparition mysterious suspicious". "yōkai" 妖怪, – are supernatural monsters, ghosts, spirits & demons from Japanese folklore. At least the generous checkpoints mean that it's impossible to get stuck for too long in any one stage. My first Self Published Zine, First in a series of 5 or 6! - 1st Edition, Short Run Print! - 24 pages, 20 Yokai info-blurbs! - Comes with optional stickers! My goal: Draw 100 Yokai Monsters, Ghosts, Cryptids, Myths and Folklore (and adjacent subjects) starting with Japan - Make them into sweet stickers and have a fun time doing so!! - This is more or less an "in a nutshell bestiary" with short n sweet descriptions of the monsters I've drawn so far!' Health also doesn't come back between encounters, meaning that players will likely repeat the opening battles of several encounters per level. Players can switch to any nonactive characters upon death, or teammates can revive the fallen by giving away part of their own life. Between electric charges, energy shields, and thrown bombs, it's entirely possible that one wrong move can decimate an entire health bar without reproach. Enemies have a nasty habit of juggling players in the air in Shing!, and they're much more skilled at it than the playable ninjas. This all assumes that players will be able to pull off the combos they want. Any complex moves in Shing's arsenal are both difficult to execute thanks to this control fiddling and completely unnecessary since the basic attacks will take out most enemies just as efficiently. Turning left and right requires using the movement keys, which means plenty of moments where a character will block facing the wrong direction because oh how these types of mechanics work in most other games of this type. Even slicing through the smallest demons requires constant attack spamming. ![]() Shing's unique control configuration never becomes comfortable, even after hours of play. ![]()
